  • One of the largest foundation slab mat pours ever undertaken in the United States—16,222 yards placed in 51 hours by 4 boom pumps.

  • 10,000 yard continuous slip form pour of three ash storage silos that lasted ten continuous days, non stop.

    Soil/Rock Anchors
    Howard Concrete Pumping: Rock/Soil AnchorsSoil and rock anchors have been used successfully for decades in both temporary and permanent applications. Typical uses are for retaining walls, dam stabilization, excavation support, marine bulkheads, and landslide stabilization.

    Anchors are installed by drilling to the appropriate depth in the soil or rock, setting steel strand or bar material in the borehole, placing cement grout, then stressing the anchor to the required load using a hydraulic jack. Anchor loads in excess of 1,000 tons have been reached with rock anchors.

    Micropiles
    Howard Concrete Pumping: MicropilesMicropiles are small diameter (less than 12 inches) drilled-in support elements. Micropiles often are constructed using high strength steel pipe (80 ksi) and can provide compression load capacities in excess of 400 kips using 9-5/8-inch diameter pipe.

    Micropiles can be installed in restricted workspaces - low headroom, tight areas and tough access locations. They can be used for new foundations or to supplement existing foundations.

    Retaining Walls
    Howard Concrete Pumping: Retaining WallsStructural walls are constructed to support vertical changes in grade for either permanent or temporary conditions. These walls can be soldier pile/lagging construction, or soil nail/shotcrete construction.

    Soil Mixing
    Howard Concrete Pumping: Soil MixingSoil mixing operations are used to stabilize coal refuse ponds and hazardous waste impoundments by the introduction of cementitious material.

    Deep mixing is conducted by utilizing a specially designed three auger mix panel supported by a Manitowoc crane.

    Shallow mixing is accomplished by using a custom designed large backhoe equipped with a long reach dipper stick and hydraulically driven mixing device.
